Statesman's Ridge is located in the hunt country of Maryland where we are breeding and nurturing mares, foals and young horses.

Statesman's Ridge operates a facility for breeding and developing the Cleveland Bay horse, both pure and part bred sport horses. Formerly located on approximately 250 acres in three historic broodmare barns (the "Sears Barns") of Montpelier Virginia Statesman's Ridge has recently moved to the heart of the horse country of Maryland. The new farm accommodates approximately 20 mares and additional weanlings and yearlings. There are always horses in training.

We have mare-boarding facilities for the breeding season. In addition, we offer a clearing-house for pure and part bred sport horses.

Martin Venberg, has had a lifetime of experience with horses of all types. Polo player, licensed trainer, horse transport: Marty has had the experience. He is on the premises, handles the stallions, and checks and rechecks the condition of all our horses every day.

Merry Venberg trains, conditions and shows our horses with years of capable experience. She is expert in nutrition and grooming.

John Moody, DVM, our veterinarian, has had 20 years of experience both in California and now in Orange, Virginia, where he operates his clinic and own breeding establishment. He supervises our breeding program.

We have numerous overnight accommodations, restaurants, vineyards and the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains nearby. Statesman's Ridge has easy access to Dulles International Airport or BWI and the major transportation corridors.

For more on Statesman's Ridge Farm's breeding program watch the interview with Marty and Merry on the Film Shorts page.

Our young stock represent fine bloodlines suitable for all equestrian sports.

Forbes Native Statesman 1991-2004 Cleveland Bay Stallion by Wanderer, 17.1 Hands.

Unfortunately "Benson" was lost to a tragic accident in the summer of 2004.

He had been judged Champion Pure Bred at the 2000 and 2002 Cleveland Bay Affair.

Many of his fine offspring are turning heads with his substance, lovely movement, and natural jumping ability. Please contact Statesman's Ridge for information on "Bensons" outstanding offspring.
